Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Snowscroll ("Snowscroll," "we," "us") handles information when you use the Snowscroll iOS app (the "App").
Snowscroll is built to be private by design. The short version: we do not have user accounts, we do not track you, we do not run ads, and we never collect, store, or transmit your social-media credentials or your activity on the social platforms you use. The sections below explain exactly what that means.
The short version
- No Snowscroll account. We never collect your name, email, phone number, or password.
- No tracking, no ads, no analytics SDKs, no sale of data.
- Your social logins and activity stay on your device. You sign in to Instagram, YouTube, and the other supported platforms directly, inside an in-app browser, exactly as you would in any browser. We never read, store, or transmit those credentials, and we never record what you message, watch, or post.
- Almost nothing leaves your device. The few things that do are limited to what is needed to process your subscription and to run the referral program, and none of it identifies you personally.
No account and no personal login
Snowscroll has no account system. You do not create a Snowscroll username or password, and you never give us your name, email, or phone number.
To make subscriptions and referrals work, the App generates a random anonymous identifier that is stored in your device's secure Keychain (a string such as snow_ab12...). This identifier is not derived from, and cannot be tied to, your real identity. It is used only to (a) tell our subscription provider which install owns a purchase, and (b) attribute referrals. It persists across reinstalls on the same device.
What stays on your device and is never transmitted by Snowscroll
- Your social-platform credentials. You sign in to Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, X, TikTok, and LinkedIn directly inside the App's embedded web view, just as you would in a browser. Snowscroll never reads, stores, proxies, or transmits these credentials. Your session cookies live only in the App's local web-data store on your device.
- All of your browsing and social activity on those platforms (who you message, what you watch, what you post). Snowscroll does not record, scrape, or transmit any of it.
- Screen-time and usage statistics. These are calculated and stored only on your device and are never sent anywhere. The "reclaimed time" share image is created on your device and is shared only if you choose to share it, through the standard iOS share sheet, to wherever you select.
- Your settings and preferences (which features are on, your theme, your per-app limits). These stay on your device.
What leaves your device, to whom, and why
We keep this list deliberately short. These are the only things the App sends off your device, and none of them includes your name, email, credentials, or social activity.
- Apple / the App Store (subscriptions). When you buy Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple through In-App Purchase. This is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- RevenueCat (subscription management). We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and entitlements. RevenueCat receives purchase and receipt data and your anonymous identifier. It does not receive your name, email, or browsing data. RevenueCat's privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
- Our referral backend (Supabase). To run the referral program, the App sends your anonymous identifier and a referral code to our backend, which stores: the anonymous identifier, your referral code, a referral count, which code (if any) referred you, milestone flags, and a created-at timestamp. It stores no names, emails, credentials, IP-based profiles, or browsing data. The backend is hosted on Supabase, which runs on cloud infrastructure (for example, AWS). As the host delivering and securing the service, Supabase may process technical metadata such as your IP address. Supabase's privacy policy is at supabase.com/privacy.
- Filter configuration (a static file). When the App launches, it downloads a small static JSON file (the list of page elements to hide) over HTTPS from a content host (currently GitHub Pages). This is a read-only download; the App sends no user data with it. As with any web request, the host may log the request, including your IP address.
- The social platforms themselves. Because you sign in to Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, X, TikTok, and LinkedIn directly inside the web view, your interactions are with those platforms and are governed by their own privacy policies and terms. Snowscroll acts only as a focused browser between you and the platform; it does not sit in the middle as a collector of your data.
What we do not collect
To be plain: Snowscroll does not collect or use any advertising identifiers, does not use third-party ad networks, does not use behavioral or usage analytics SDKs, and does not currently use a crash-reporting SDK. (If a crash-reporting tool is ever added, it will be privacy-preserving and disclosed here.) We do not collect location data, contacts, photos, or health data, and we do not sell or share personal data for cross-context advertising.
App Store privacy summary
For transparency, this maps to what we declare in Apple's App Privacy label:
- Identifiers (User ID) — the anonymous identifier and the RevenueCat app-user identifier: collected, not linked to your identity, and not used for tracking.
- Purchases (through RevenueCat and Apple): collected, not linked to your identity, and not used for tracking.
- Everything else: not collected.
Security
All network calls use HTTPS. The anonymous identifier is stored in the iOS Keychain. Our backend database has row-level security enabled and is reachable only by our server functions; the public has no direct database access, and the backend is gated by a shared application token. No credentials or social content are ever stored on our servers.
Data retention and your choices
- On-device data (usage statistics, settings, and session cookies) is removed when you delete the App.
- Referral data on our backend is tied only to your anonymous identifier and contains no personally identifying information. To request deletion, contact us at support@snowscroll.com; deletion removes the referral record associated with that anonymous identifier.
Your regional rights. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the CCPA/CPRA and the GDPR/UK GDPR, including rights to access or delete personal information and to confirm that we do not sell your personal information. Because we hold no personal information beyond an anonymous identifier and referral counts, the practical effect of these rights is limited, but we will honor valid requests. Contact support@snowscroll.com.
Children
Snowscroll is intended for users 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The App embeds third-party social websites that are themselves intended for users 13 and older.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and post the updated policy at snowscroll.com/privacy.
