We made it for ourselves first.
snowscroll started with a few of us who kept opening Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube without really meaning to, then surfacing an hour later wondering where the time went.
We didn't want to leave social media. We wanted the parts that matter, the messages and the people we actually follow, without the feeds built to keep us scrolling.
We tried the blockers first. The wellness ones nagged. The streak-based ones turned focus into one more thing to keep up. The strict ones locked us out of things we genuinely needed, like DMs and the handful of accounts we care about. None of them fixed the real problem: the parts we wanted were bolted to the parts we didn't.
So instead of another wall, we built a calmer browser. snowscroll opens your apps with the addictive feeds taken out and everything else left alone. Reels, Shorts, and Explore stay away. Your DMs, search, posts, and the people you follow are all still there, because those were the point in the first place.
We're a small, independent team. No investors, no growth targets, no roadmap written by someone who has never lost an evening to a feed. We use snowscroll every day, we fix what bugs us, and we're building it for everyone who has been stuck in the same loop. We made the thing we wished existed, and now it's for you too.
Who builds it
snowscroll is built by Juhyun Nam. He is the developer listed on the App Store listing, he writes the pages on this site, and he is the person who replies when you email support.
He is not a psychologist or a neuroscientist, and nothing here is clinical advice. What he has is narrower than that, and more useful for this particular problem: he lived it, and then spent a long time building the tool that finally fixed it for him. He deleted the apps and reinstalled them a week later. He set screen time limits and tapped straight through the reminder. He tried the strict blockers and found they took away his DMs and the people he follows along with the feed he wanted gone. snowscroll exists because none of that worked.
Because this is a small operation, he reads the support email himself. That is where most of what is written on this site comes from: actual questions from people trying to use their phones differently. When a page here admits something is hard, or that snowscroll will not help with a particular thing, it is usually because someone wrote in and said so.

How we write
A short note on what you can trust on this site.
- We do not publish a statistic we cannot trace back to whoever published it. If we cannot find the source, we leave the number out rather than repeat it.
- We say when snowscroll is not a fit for you. What to expect lists our own limitations, in plain words, before you spend anything.
- We update pages when the facts change: prices, features, what iOS lets us do. If something here has gone stale, telling us is the fastest way to get it fixed.
- A real person answers support. No ticket queue, no chatbot, and we have never invented a review, a rating, or a download number.
